The St Louis Game Developer RoundUp is a monthly news aggregator for the St Louis Game Development community. It is a collection of news, events, and other items of interest to the community.
August was a whirlwind month for the STLGameDev Community, packed with exciting game releases, major updates, original soundtracks, stunning new artwork, and so much more. From ambitious solo projects to polished team collaborations, creators brought their visions to life and shared incredible progress every step of the way! Here’s what you missed:
🕹️ Game Jam Releases
- Walpang created the music and sound for Sk8 Breaker, a GMTK Game Jam game. Use your cybernetic nano-rope to cut off the fascist robot army’s communications!
- Simple Pixel Games created Pixel Village for the LowRezJam! Manage a tiny village. Create buildings and people.
- Butterscotch Shenanigans created HOW MANY DUDES? for the GMTK Game Jam, that answers the question: “How many dudes does it take to beat up a gorilla?”
🧑💻 Dev Updates
- Kris Truitt added a headbanging mummy boss and a baseball bat for the Earthbound fans to his game, Mansion of a Million Monsters!
- Tony Wojnar is starting to create the newest level for Dribble 2, the “Lactose Lake”, as well as adding some new SFX by Case Portman!
📢 News
- STLGameDev was at the Science Center for their Play & Creativity Expo this month which had over 5000 attendees! Many youngsters were impressed by the games that were demoed!
- Claire a la Mode’s Kickstarter Campaign made their goal in less than a day, and have since doubled the goal!
📚 Resources
- Fairlii released a video about the tricky world of collectible designs in their video, Some Neat Things About Designing Collectibles !
- Nonsensical 2D is a Youtube channel that talks about consistency and style in game art and other game dev topics
🎶 Music
- Lazarus D. Richardson released “A Yoke For The Beast Machines” - a music pack that is 8-Bit Sci-Fi Adventure Music with 25 original, loopable tracks with multiple cuts of the intros and sections of the tunes for maximum customability!
🎮 Releases
- Westin B created Mule Zine, a zine about a game that refuses to be forgotten
🎨 Art
- Tashkas has been creating some lovely low-poly trees, camping equipment, and characters

Join us as we admire the masterpieces created in 48 hours at the world's largest graffiti festival! In true game developer fashion, you will be asked to think critically about the pieces and how you might incorporate styles like this into your games.
STLGameDev will have a table showcasing games by local STL game developers! Join us for a day full of open-play games, featured speakers, music, and get to know local developers.
