RoundUp № 36 | St Louis Game Developer RoundUp

RoundUp № 36

June was an exciting month for game developers! One of the most significant events is the Steam Next Fest, where developers release playable demos, gather valuable player feedback, and build excitement ahead of their games’ launches. There were also some major game jams, like the The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam, the NES Jam, the Game Poems Jam, and the Manifesto Jam!

We also had a Miniature Paint Night, starring our yellow gamelien, Terrence! Check out the pictures on instagram!

The St Louis Game Developer RoundUp is the official monthly digest of the St Louis Game Developer community. Curated by STLGameDev, it brings together news, project updates, resources, and upcoming events from our local game development scene contributed by community members.

🧑‍💻 Dev Updates

  • Tony Wojnar finished creating the Crayon Canyon level for Dribble 2 and is now working on a static-themed level!
  • Eternal Delta Games put up a demo of their game, Yacht Sea: Island Casino for Steam Next Fest! A non-idle clicker dice game about getting rich the honest way: brazen cheating and lucky rolls. Bribe the dealer, rig the table, chase bigger payouts, and cool it down before the casino catches on.
  • Dustin Triplett has been working on a typing game in godot. What if there was a Typing of the Dead spinoff, but for destroying your personal demons holding you back?
  • Goofy Gourd Studios has been working on a dialogue system to play mid-battle!
  • Todd Mitchell posted a clip from a side-scrolling brawler made in Godot at a hot-topic historical site!
  • CodeInInk uploaded a prototype of Goblin City Planner! Connect houses and caves together as you expand the transportation in the depths of a goblin city. Do well and you’re entrusted with more of the city; poorly .. well, it’s best not to think of that now.

🕹️ Game Jam Releases

  • Axol Studio released The Colisino for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam. Fight your way to Big Wins at the Calisino! Spin to determine your opponents each round!
  • Renhet Studio released Beelze Pub as part of Comfy Jam: Summer! You are Skelly, a laid-back skeletender filling in behind the bar at Beelze Pub for the weekend. Your job is simple: mix drinks, serve customers, and keep the business running until the boss gets back. Everyone arrives with their own problems, questionable life choices, and surprisingly strong opinions about cocktails.

🎼 Music Releases

  • Nathan Amiri made this cool song site inspired by My Singing Monsters where you can hear different combinations of tracks by toggling them on/off.
